These are films that aren’t necessary fucked up but they’re a bit eccentric and don’t exactly fit into the category of normal either.
Kamikaze Girls (2004) – This is a comedy about a girl obsessed with 17th century France who prefers her own company but over the course of the film befriends an outgoing biker chick. I recommended it to my friend and she said it was “the most odd thing shes ever watched but she really fw it though” (quote).
This is one of my favourite films of all time, definitely the one on this list I’d recommend the most. If you’re into fashion you will probably like this film. Meow and Momo especially should check it out if they haven’t already. (Meow bc it matches her aesthetic and Momo bc the main characters name is Momoko)
It is on Youtube, the Internet Archive (manga asw) and included with Prime so it’s easy to find.
A Girl, She Is 100% (1983) – This is a short film you can find on Youtube. Its 11 minutes long and it’s flawless to me. It’s 11 minutes long I can’t describe it without spoiling it, watch it or don’t.
Fantastic Planet – I watched this one recently, it’s French which I didn’t know until I started it and the animation is pretty cool. It reminds me of vintage paper dolls (the jointed ones). It’s about humans living on a strange planet with aliens who either keep them as pets or view them as vermin.
Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown – Been ages since I saw this, I just remember that I liked it and it’s more tame compared to other Almodovar films. The only Almodovar film on this site is the Skin I Live In, which is great but feels sterile compared to his other films (usually colourful and representative of Spanish culture).
You can definitely see it in the poster, but Women on the Verge is pretty influenced by pop art e.g Warhol.
Mean Girls (2004) – People don’t take this film seriously enough because it is a girly highschool film. It’s very complex and intellectual when there isn’t a 25yo twink in your vicinity trying to imitate Regina George. It’s a film where as you’re watching it, you realise how many people make references to it in real life. I put this here because I couldn’t be arsed to think of a 5th film.
Out of all of these which one do u think I’d like
