“Requiem” (2006) is a German film that is based on a true story about a fräulein from a religious family who suffers from epilepsy. Sandra Hüller does a masterful job in her portrayal of “Michaela.” As the story moves along there are questions about the medication “Michaela” is prescribed and whether they are helping her or harming her and questions of if she needs a psychiatrist because of her increasingly bizarre behaviour. It is then decided by the religious quacks and priests that she is in need of an exorcism.
It is an overall great production and with some ace cinematography and breathtaking landscape shots. Sandra Hüller is just fantastic and gives an incredible performance. NGL – it’s a little slow for the first half of the film but you’ll be rewarded for hanging in there for the second half. 4 stars. Recommend.
