“Old Mother Hubbard’s Top 10 List of Movie Sequels”

1. Death Wish 2 (1982) No doubt “Death Wish 1” (1974) is a classic but the sequel is better because Paul Kersey (Charles Bronson) gets revenge on the perps who actually committed the crimes instead of random street thugs. My favorite scene in any movie ever made is when the short thug gets shot in the stomach and the detective presses on the wound until the thug rat’s out his friend. He immediately dies after ratting out his cohort. I just love that part.

2. “Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer 2 – Mask of Sanity” (1996) Again “Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer” (1986) is an absolute classic film but “Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer 2 – Mask of Sanity” (1996) is just incredibly good and better IMO however overlooked.

3. I Spit on Your Grave 1 (2010) Again “I Spit on Your Grave” (1978) is a classic but “I Spit on Your Grave 1” (2010) was unexpectedly and surprisingly better.

4. Last House on the Left (2009) The original “Last House on the Left” (1972) is actually a remake/sequel to “The Virgin Spring” (1960). “Last House on the Left” (2009) is better than both of them.

5. The French Connection 2 (1975) “The French Connection” (1971) directed by William Friedkin is of course a classic. However the much overlooked sequel “The French Connection 2” (1975) directed by John Frankenheimer is a lost gem that I feel is much better.

6. Dawn of the Dead (1978) This is a sequel to what is considered to be a classic “Night of the Living Dead” (1968). I never really liked “Night of the Living Dead” that much. “Dawn of the Dead” (1978) is definitely much better.

7. Nekromantik 2 (1991) I like the first one too but I thought this one was better. It’s fucking weird as hell.

8. Ginger Snaps 2 (2004) I didn’t really like “Ginger Snaps 1” (2000). “Ginger Snaps 2” (2004) is much better.

9. Mondo Cane Oggi (1985) This one is my favorite in the “Mondo Cane” series. Most of them are really good but I thought this one was the best.

10. Ensuring Your Place In Hell 2 (2021) Much better than the first one mainly because of the last segment called “High Impact Hand Safety.” If you haven’t seen that segment watch it right now right here on EUM (it starts at 01:01:48 in the film).
