10 Films Worthy To Be On EUM

Author: Old Mother Hubbard

Here is a list of 10 films that I feel should be on EUM due to their fucked up-ness level.

1. “Enys Men” (2022) Super weird film about a woman on a isolated island doing research on some strange flowers. 4 and a half stars.

2. “November” (2017) Bizarre film from Estonia that’s hard to describe. Within the first 2 minutes you’ll be scratching your head saying “WTF?” This is a 5 star film.

3. “The Gift” (2015) Joel Edgerton’s excellent revenge film. 5 stars.

4. “The Deeper You Dig” (2019) Spooky story about a drunk driver who kills a 14 year old girl. 4 and a half stars.

5. “What Happened To Monday” (AKA “Seven Sisters”) (2017) Noomi Rapace plays all 7 identical septuplet sisters – Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday Settman. Also stars Willem Defoe and Glenn Close. Outstanding performance by Rapace. 5 stars.

6. “The Moor’s Head” (AKA “Der Kopf des Mohren”) (1995) Written (but not directed) by Michael Haneke, “The Moor’s Head” is similar to “The Seventh Continent” (1989) but it’s a bit more extreme and bloody. 5 stars.

7. “Resurrection” (2022) A bizarre film about a successful business woman named Margaret (Rebecca Hall) who spots her abusive ex-boyfriend David (Tim Roth) at a work conference in a hotel and she immediately begins to have panic attacks. Eventually Margaret and David continue their strange relationship that is unlike any other you will ever see. 5 stars.

8. “Revolution #9” (2001) James (Michael Risley) goes insane via the internet and a certain TV commercial. It’s a sad story of someone with severe mental illness. It also stars Adrienne Shelly* as James’ bewildered girlfriend Kim. 4 and a half stars.

*Adrienne Shelly was murdered for absolutely no reason at the age of 40 on November 1st, 2006 by an illegal immigrant named Diego Pillco, a 19-year-old construction worker from Ecuador. It was first reported that Adrianne committed suicide. Adrianne’s daughter was only 2 years old when her mother was murdered. There is a really sad documentary about Adrienne Shelly called “Adrienne” (2021). It brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it. Shit bag Diego Pillco is expected to remain behind bars until at least 2031. Upon his release, he faces mandatory deportation to Ecuador, his home country.

9. “3 Women” (1977) Odd film directed by Robert Altman with great performances by Sissy Spacek and Shelly Duval. Altman said the idea for the movie came to him in a dream.

10. “Pi” (1998) Darren Aronofsky’s first major film about a mathematician trying to crack the code for the stock market and searching for the true name of Jehovah; a discovery that could lead to the end of the world. 5 stars.

Bonus Film:

11. “Kill By Inches” (1999) A deranged young tailor descends into madness and murder. His whole family (and his customers) are creepy and weird. The sewing machine repairman is super strange and menacing as well. The film contains the weirdest fashion show you will ever see. 4 and a half stars.

Double Bonus Film:

12. “Morphine” (2008) Russian film directed by Aleksei Balabanov (who also directed “Cargo 200” (2007)). Set in 1917, it’s about a young doctor who lands a job at a small hospital and by happenstance becomes addicted to morphine. There are some really gruesome medical scenes since technology wasn’t very advanced in 1917. 4 and a half stars.

Anywho, there you have it!

OMH can you please give me more fucked up found footage films? Ones like Atrocious (2015) and August Underground (I don’t like August Underground but you get the vibe I’m looking for).

I think that “the fly”, “the killing of a sacred deer”, “mad god”, “belladonna of sadness” and “it’s such a beautiful day” should all be on this website
