*1. Pregabalin (Lyrica)
This is basically hovering over my ‘5 Worst Psych Meds’ list. It’s too bad to include in there, but too good not to include here. Love/hate relationship with this shit. I was given it for anxiety and mood-stabilization, abused it and mutilated myself physically on it a lot. Oh man, but that euphoria and the disinhibition and chaotic energy. -5/0
4. Lorazepam (Ativan)
Good one. Not as psychologically addictive as Nr. 1 for me, I still take it as a PRN, calms me down, helps with dissociation and trauma shit. The downside is the quick physical addiction (being a short-acting benzodiazepine), and the occasional unmasking of depressive symptoms that will leave me feeling regret over actually taking it.
3. Agomelatine
Good for sleep. Bad for the liver. Not much to say about this one, it’s just a nice little hormone that normalizes your sleep-wake cycle.
4. Venlafaxine (Effexor)
Gets me out of the bed in the morning. I’m very dosage sensitive so if I’m on too much I get all scattered and high-strung on it. The withdrawal is hell.
5. Trazodone
Combine with the Agomelatine, it gets me to sleep, sometimes like 5 minutes after I take my meds, and I hate it, but it’s good to have if I need to force myself to sleep.
Honorable Mention: Doxepin
This is not usually prescribed for psych issues, but it’s really good at calming me down if the Ativan is not working, but it gets me really drowsy, so it’s not as flexible as the latter.
List done.
Won’t name which but seeing the name of the one I took YEARS ago (when I wasn’t supposed to) made my heart skip a beat lol it made me hallucinate.
I only tried Trazodone for insomnia and hated it everything else is hard to get
