The House of the Devil (2009)

“The House of the Devil” (2009) Right from the beginning I had the feeling that this movie wasn’t going to be too good. Since Tom Noonan is in it I thought it might be OK and maybe Noonan didn’t do the film just for the paycheck but that’s not the case.

A college girl (Sam) sees an ad for a babysitter wanted and gives the number a call. She ends up at this creepy guy’s mansion (Noonan) and he tells her that he really wants her to babysit his elderly mother. Seeing that he lied to her Sam decides to leave until he offers her $400 to stay. For the next hour we watch paranoid Sam wandering around the house getting spooked at every little noise to the point of major boredom. One scene that should have hit the cutting room floor is when she was dancing around the house to “One Thing Leads To Another” by The Fixx. There is at least a half an hour of just bullshit in this film that should have been cut. With about 20 minutes to go suddenly the movie seems like it might start to get good but the ending sucked so bad it destroys everything that could have been good about the film.

This is the type of film that Cole, Meow and the jerkoff who uses the name “OMH be like” would think is awesome. I’m not kidding. It really sucks that bad. 1 star.
