“To Sir, With Love” is about a teacher named Mr. Thackeray (Sidney Poitier), later known simply as “Sir,” who lands a teaching job in a rough section in the East End of London. His students who are just about to become adults are unruly, belligerent, inconsiderate, selfish, rude, arrogant and immature. They constantly test Sir’s patience until one day they go too far and make Sir blow his stack. Sir then decides to get rid of the text books and start teaching the, pardon the expression, little assholes manners, courtesy, respect and self discipline before they have to face the world on their own. The students end up being forever grateful to Sir for his generosity, charity and unselfishness.

“To Sir, With Love” was a box office smash and made cutie pie Judy Geeson a world wide movie star. On a $600,000 budget “To Sir, With Love” pulled in over $22 million dollars at the box office. It may be a tad sentimental at times but it is brilliantly acted and features some great music from The Mindbenders and Lulu. 5 stars.

For anyone that hasn’t seen this film and who decides to watch it because of this review I will guarantee that it will stick with you for the rest of your life. It was a huge hit with young people who wanted to grow out of being little assholes and become adults.
